1. During the warm weather months add approximately 1/4 cup of bleach to the primary drain line about every 30 days. This will reduce the buildup of slime in the drain line, which contributes to drain blockage. This drain line is usually located next to your furnace.
   
   
   
   
2. Use a MERV 7 or 8 pleated filter and change it every 3 months. MERV 7 and 8 pleated filters clean the air down to approximately 3 microns, which is small enough to remove virtually all pollens and pet dander. This will also keep your air conditioner blower and evaporator clean, reducing costly service calls and repairs.
   
   
   
   
3. Be sure to rinse off the condenser coil every spring. This can be accomplished by first turning off the air conditioner, and then squirt water vertically down the outside of the condenser coil. This will improve the efficiency of the system throughout the season.
